Odisha: 45 students do foot-march to meet collector in Gajapati

Gajapati: As many as 45 students of Kartik Gamangam High School in Mahendragarh of Gajapati district vacated their hostel and marched on foot for around 20 kms to lodge their grievances before Gajapati Collector.

The students wanted to meet the collector over the problems that they were facing in the hostel. They marched on foot for 20 kms from Mahendragarh to Ramgiri and then took a bus till Parlakhemundi.

The students alleged that there is water issue, drinking water problems in the hostel. The book provided to children by the government for free is being sold. Some teachers are selling the groceries, vegetables and also they are verbally abusing the students.

On being informed, District Welfare Officer (DWO) reached at Parlakhemundi and convinced them to return back to their hostel.

A special team from district administration were sent to the school for inspection along with the students. The students came to meet the District collector but could not meet him.
