45 children among 242 Covid cases in Odisha, 3 deaths

Bhubaneswar: A total of 242 Covid-19 positive cases including 45 in the 0-18 years age group have been detected positive in Odisha in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 10,46,559 informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Friday.

Among the 242 positives, 141 are quarantine cases and 101 are local contacts. However, 351 patients recovered in the State taking the total number of 10,35,613. Therefore, currently the active cases stands at 2504.

The details of local contacts will be shared by concerned district.

Besides the State Pool reported 28 Covid cases.

Meanwhile, as many as three COVID infected patients died in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health & Family Welfare Department on Friday taking the death toll to 8,389. Details of cases confirmed as death due to Covid-19, after due completion of death audit process:

1. A 87 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Coronary Artery Disease.

2. A 77 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypothyroidism, Morbid Obesity & Chronic Kidney Disease.

3. A 84 years old male of Ganjam District who was also suffering from Carcinoma prostate,Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

The department further stated that this list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19.

On the other hand, India reported 11,106 new cases in last 24 hours. As many as 12,789 recoveries and 459 deaths in the country.
