4-Year-Old Missing Girl From Odisha Reunites With Family After 1 Year

Gajapati: A year after going missing, a 4-year-old girl returned back home to her family, thanks to the efforts of West Bengal ChildLine officials. But, it was too late.

By the time, the little girl returned, her mother had left the world, unable to bear the loss of her daughter. Such a tragic incident has been reported from Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district.

According to reports, the girl, Bhawani was only three years old when she went missing at Kharagpur Railway station of West Bengal on March 15, last year. Railway Police Officials spotted her wandering around alone in the railway station and handed her over to ChildLine officials who then rehabilitated her to a shelter home for children.

Officials had no clue about the little girl except the fact that she spoke in Odia and knew the name of her hometown Paralakhemundi. With no identity, the officials renamed her as Mopanna and launched a probe to find her parents.

Finally, after one year, ChildLine officials came to know that the little girl was from Paralakhemundi and her name was Bhawani. Later, officials of West Bengal police, the shelter home in which resided, Child Protection Committee and Child Welfare Committee traced the house of the girl and came to hand over the girl.

Unfortunately, the girl was welcomed by her father alone as her mother had passed away, unable to bear the pain of loosing her.

Meanwhile, officials found out that the girl’s father is a heavy drunkard and are worried about her future. They assured to rehabilitate the girl in Paralakhemundi-based rehabilitation centre if her father did not take proper care.
