Baripada: Launching a crackdown on illegal sand transportation, district administration officials seized at least four sand-laden trucks after conducting separate raids in Karanjia area in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
Following a tip-off, a team of officials led by Additional Tehsildar Asish Kumar Nayak carried out a raid at Karanjia Golei Chhak this morning and detained a dumper and a tractor carrying sand consignments from Adipur sand mines under Sukruli.
Both the vehicles were seized after the transit licenses were found to be duplicate.
Later, two Hyva vehicles from Bhadrak carrying sand to Karanjia were stopped at Rasamatala village by the district administration team for checking of documents. Those were seized after transit passes were found to be fake.
Further investigation is underway in both cases.
