4 railway gangmen hurt as bhang sacks falling off train hit them

Dhenkanal: At least four railway gangmen were hurt after bhang (dry cannabis) sacks slipped off a train and fell on them between Dhenkanal and Shyamacharanpur Station last night.

The victims have been identified as Dinesh Swain, Jayprakash Panigarahi, Biranchi Mahapatra and Rajesh Pal.

As per the report, the victims who had been deployed on night-patrolling last night was busy in their duty when the mishap took place. A few sacks loaded on Sambalpur-Howrah Express suddenly slipped off it due to some reason and hit them on the leg.

The victims were immediately rushed to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) following the incident where they are currently under treatment.

Railway Police later rushed to the spot and seized at least three sacks containing 1 quintal bhang.

While the Railway Department has launched a probe into the incident, it is being suspected that the dry cannabis were being transported illegally by the train.
