4 of family die in road mishap in Odisha’s Ganjam district

Bhanjanagar: In a tragic incident as many as four persons of a family were reportedly killed in a road mishap in Ganjam district of Odisha on Wednesday.

The accident took place at Indhanpur village under Gangapur Police Station limits in the district. A pall of gloom has descended the area following the horrendous accident which claimed four members of one family.

The deceased persons are identified as Jayram, his daughters Laxmi and Rinki and his grandson six year old Biswajit.

As per reports, Jayram was returning home from hospital along with his daughters Laxmi and Rinki and grandson Biswajit. They had visited the doctor at the medical as Biswajit was not well. They would have reached home within a few minutes. However, before that, a pick up van crushed the four under its wheels.

Following the accident, Jayram was killed on the spot. His two daughters Laxmi and Rinki were rushed to Aska hospital but they succumbed to the wound. Later, the six year old Biswajit, who was critically injured in the accident, was died at the Berhampur hospital.

Soon, the locals blocked road at the accident spot of Indhanpur demanding compensation for the next of the kin of the deceased persons. Accordingly, traffic movement came to standstill between Bhanjanagar and Aska.

Police and officer of the district administration reached the spot and talked to the protestors. And later the road blockade was lifted. However, the widow of Jayram who was killed in the accident and his another daughter have become helpless following death of the earning member of the family along with two women and a kid. It has been demanded that the family should be granted some financial help from the government.
