4 members of a family killed over minor altercation in Ganjam

Ganjam: In an unfortunate incident, four members of a family have been killed over a minor altercation between two rivalry groups in Ganjam district on Wednesday. The incident took place near Pitala squareunder Hinjilicut police limits.

The deceased have been identified as Shambhu Swain, Panda Swain, Raja Swain, and Chandan of Narendrapur village.

Reportedly, the two rivalry groups had an altercation over the passing of objectionable comments in public which escalated to a clash between the youths.

As a result, Shambhu, Panda, Raja, and Chandan were murdered and one person from the attacking group sustained injuries during the clash. The injured has been admitted to Berhampur Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) hospital for immediate treatment.

On getting the information, the local police arrived at the spot and took charge of the situation. The bodies were recovered and the cops detained two accused from the attacking group. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
