300 cattle rescued from traffickers in Balasore, 2 held, 4 vehicles seized

Balasore: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal cattle traffickers, members of Biju Yuva Vahini and locals detained at least three trucks and a pickup van trafficking over 300 cows in separate incidents in the district today.

The angry cow vigilantes also detained the drivers in both the incidents and handed them over to police later.

In the first incident, hundreds of members of Biju Yuva Vahini intercepted three West Bangal bound trucks carrying cows at Chalanti Chhak on NH-60 under Jaleswar police limits and conducted a search of those. As during the search it came to notice that the cattle were being transported under inhumane conditions, the angry members detained the driver. He was later handed over to police.

Police also seized around 300 cows from the detained trucks and seized those.

In a similar incident in Baiganbadia Chhak under the same police station later, locals detained a pickup van laden with cattle and seized seven cows from that. The called up police and handed over its driver alleging illegal  cattle trafficking.

Expressing its concern over back to back cattle trafficking incidents in the district today, the Biju Yuva Vahini has claimed the involvement of racketeers from West Bengal in those.
