3-year-old son on her arm, woman goes to forest in search of her husband kidnapped by Maoists

Malkangiri: Daring thick darkness and wild animals, a woman reportedly entered a dense forest to search for her husband whom Maoists have kidnapped. The heart-wrenching incident has taken place in the Mankelli village area under Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

According to reports, Arpita Lakra’s husband Ajay Roshan is an engineer. He was in-charge of the construction of a road in the Mankelli area. The road was being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which was opposed by the Maoists.

However, Ajay had started the construction work without any fear of the red rebels. But, on being informed, some armed Maoists reached the construction site and kidnapped him and his associate Laxaman Patagiri.

Arpita broke down after hearing the news of her husband’s kidnapping and decided to go to the forest to search for him.

As per the latest report, the Maoists have released Laxman. However, Arpita, along with her minor son, went to the forest in search of Ajay, without knowing his whereabouts.

“I do not know where they (Maoists) have kept my husband. I request them to forgive him if he has done anything wrong and release him. There is no one for us except him,” Arpita pleaded with eyes filled with tears.

Statement of Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) over the matter is yet to be attained.
