Keonjhar: A three-year-old girl was killed after a speeding tractor hit a bicycle on which she was traveling with her father at Chhenapadi Square under Nandipada police limits in the district on Saturday.
The deceased child has been identified as Mukta Munda of Chhenapadi village.
The mishap took place in the evening while the child was on her way to a nearby market along with her father Kusha Munda on a bicycle. Near Chhenapadi Square, driver of a speeding tractor lost control over his vehicle and struck the bicycle from rear and drove away. While the duo fell off the bicycle following the crash, the daughter sustained critical injury and died on the spot.
Nandipada Police reached the spot and sent the body of the minor for postmortem in Anandpur Sub Divisional Hospital. They also started an investigation in the incident and are trying to trace the tractor involved in the crash.
Some eye-witnesses said the tractor driver was in an inebriated condition due to which the accident took place.
