Blue WhaleBalasore: In a suspected case of ‘Blue Whale’ addiction, three Class IV boy students of a private school in Gopalgan area in Balasore town inflicted injuries on their bodies on Wednesday.

While the students are yet to be identified, they hail from Mani Khamba, Gopalgan and Mirja Pokhari area in Balasore town.

It is suspected that one of the students first tried to draw something unusual on his hands with the help of a scale inside his geometry box and later told the other two to follow him. As the duo declined to do his bidding, he started threatening him. Later, the trio inflicted injuries on their hands and throats through scales and mosquito coil stands. All this happened inside the classroom while the teacher was out on some work.

The school authorities gave first-aid to the injured immediately after the incident came to their notice and sent them home.

School authorities said the incident could be the result of the students playing the ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ game on their mobile phones at home.

However, all efforts by Kalinga TV to establish a contact with the family members of the students to inquire about the issue proved futile.
