Daringbadi: In a tragic incident, three minor girls, including two sisters drowned in a pond at Partmaha village under Daringbadi police limits of Kandhamal district today.
The deceased have been identified as Bayabandhu Nayak’s daughters Menuka Nayak (7) and Renuka Nayak (6), and Prakash Senapati’s daughter Nisha Senapati (6).
According to reports, the minor girls had gone to the village pond to clean themselves after attending nature’s call. Unfortunately, they slept into the deep water and drowned in the pond.
They were rescued by the police and fire brigade personnel, who reached the spot after getting information about the tragic incident, and rushed the trio to Daringbadi Community Health Centre where doctors declared them brought dead.
Later, the bodies were handed over to their parents after autopsy.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of the minor girls.
