Bhawanipatna/Rairangpur: At least three minors met watery grave and a woman had close shave in separate incidents of drowning which took place in Kalahandi and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha on Saturday.
In the first incident, at least two minor sisters were drowned to death while taking bath in a pond in Bagad village under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district in the morning. Another woman who was accompanying the victim duo identified as Rosy Sahoo (17) and Namita Sahoo (12) and had also slipped into the water was rescued by some bystanders.
Kesinga Police has seized the body for autopsy and started investigation into the incident.
In a similar incident later in the morning, a minor girl met watery grave while taking bath in a pond in Mundathakura village under Rairangpur Rural Police Station area. The deceased has been identified as Phula Kisku, daughter of Dasamati Kisku of the same village.
A pal of glooms has descended on the village following the incident.
