3 killed, woman hurt in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Dhenkanal/Khordha: At least three persons including a Junior Engineer (JE) have been killed and a woman sustained critical injuries in separate road mishaps in Dhenkanal and Khordha districts of Odisha this morning.

In the first instance, Kankadahada block JE S Naveen Kumar and his wife S Prashanti were traveling from Dhenkanal railway station to their home by hiring a car when the vehicle hit a stationary truck near Guneibili under Tumusingha police limits in Dhenkanal.

The intensity of the collision was so high that the car got completely mangled from the spot leaving Kumar dead on the spot. His wife was rushed to Dhenkanal DHH in critical condition.

While Tumusingha Police have seized the body for autopsy after reaching the spot, it has also trying to trace the driver who managed flee from the spot after the accident.

In a similar incident, an elderly woman and her grandson died after the Mahindra Bolero they were travelling in hit a truck on NH-16 at Sunakhala Chhak in Balugaon of Khordha district later in the morning after the driver lost control over the wheels.

The victim duo was returning from Rayagada’s Bissam Cuttack when the mishap took place.

Police have seized bodies for autopsy and started investigation into the case.
