3 killed, six injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Balangir/Sonepur: At least three persons have been killed and six others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps which struck Balangir and Sonepur districts this morning.

In the first instance, at least two youths were killed after the Bajaj Pulsar bike they were riding on was hit by a speeding 407 pickup van bearing registration number (OR 03 A 5295) from behind on Patnagarh-Barapadar Road near a petrol pump early in the morning.

The impact of the collision was so intense that the newly purchased bike got completely mangled leaving the victim duo identified as Anakhyar Bhoi (23) and Krishna Ghibela (24) of Samaleswar village turned critical on the spot.

They were rushed to Patnagarh Hospital by some locals but succumbed under treatment.

In another incident, at least one person was killed and six others sustained injuries after a truck hit a vehicle carrying marriage party members on Shibatula-Lukapada Road later in the morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rabi Thanapati of Baidyanathpur village.

All the injured in the mishap has been admitted to Sonepur Hospital.
