3 killed as truck rams into roadside shop in Sundergarh

Sundergarh: At least three persons were killed after a speeding truck crashed into footpath and rammed into a roadside shop near Kutra bus stand in the district last night.

The deceased have been identified as Udar Sonakar, Jilendar Sonakar and Brijesh Souria.

The deceased trio, who happen to be residents of Uttar Pradesh were running a roadside juice shop near the bus stand and were sleeping inside it when the mishap took place. Driver of a speeding truck which was coming from Rourkela bearing registration number OD 14 D 3809 lost control over the wheels and ended up driving into the shop and running over the trio. The mishap took place at around 2 AM.

While Udar died on the spot following the crash, the rest two succumbed while being rushed to the Burla Hospital in Sambalpur.

Locals detained the accused driver and helper of the killer truck and later handed them over to police.

Police have seized the mangled truck and rushed the dead bodies for autopsy.
