3 killed, 14 injured in separate road mishaps involving Odisha passengers

Bhubaneswar: At least three persons were killed and 14 others sustained critical injuries in separate road mishaps in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh bordering Koraput district today.

In the first instance, a Jeypore bound bus carrying passengers from Hyderabad skidded off the road near Nalgumundi in Andhra Pradesh near Koraput border this morning. As the vehicle overturned into a forested area near the road after the mishap at least 10 persons sustained critical injury. However, no loss of life was reported in the accident as the bus got stuck in the bush.

All the victims were later rescued by local police to be sent to Konta and Chittoor hospitals for treatment.

Later in the morning, a container truck smacked into a trailer from rear on NH-16 near Bandal under Barachana police limits in Jajpur district. The driver and helper of the truck, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, were killed in the crash.

Similarly, in Balasore district, an ambulance with a patient from neighbouring West Bengal to Cuttack was hit head-on by a truck at Laxmannath tollgate in Jaleswar leaving one dead and four others critically injured.
