Soro: In a shocking road mishap at least three passengers were killed and 10 others sustained critical injuries after a tourist vehicle carrying them hit a truck near Jagannath Petrol Pump in Sergarh area of Balasore district on Sunday.
The mishap took place in the wee hours while at least 25 tourists identified as residents of Balisahi area of Puri district were en-route to Devkund in Mayurbhanj district by hiring a Force Traveller vehicle bearing registration number-OD 02 AY 6316.
It is suspected that the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting a truck which was coming from the opposite direction.
While the vehicle got completely damaged under the impact of the collision, three tourists died on the spot and 10 others sustained critical injuries. They were rescued by police and fire services officials later and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police have started an investigation into the crash.
