3 injured, 1 critical in group clash over illegal sand lifting

Nayagarh: At least four persons were injured and one of them sustained severe injury after a group clash erupted over illegal sand lifting in Sundhijhola village under Odagaon police limits in the district on Tuesday.

The critical has been identified as Nila Mahakud of Sundhijhola village.

As per the report, workers of a sand supplier Trinath Swain of neighbouring Badapada village were prevented from unauthorised sand lifting from a river bank near Sundhijhola village in the morning. After they reported the matter to Swain, a group of his supporters reached Sundhijhola and attacked some of the residents. As the villagers resisted, the miscreants resorted to hurling bomb and fled away. Nila along with three others sustained injury in the attack.

All the injured were first rushed to Nayagarh DHH. Nila was later shifted to Bhubaneswar due to deteriorating condition.

Odagaon Police have reached the spot and started investigation. However, nobody has been arrested so far.
