3 including 2 women hurt in liquor mafia attack in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: At least three persons including two women sustained injuries in stone pelting by aides of wine mafia in Dadhibamanpur village under Anandpur police limits in Keonjhar district.

The victims had been identified as Rebati Jena and two others of the same village.

The attack took place while a group of women members of an anti-liquor brigade of the village was busy in a meeting with elderly members to decide the future course of action. The attackers reached the meeting venue and targeted the women with stones.

Rebati and three others who were struck by the stones were rushed to Anandpur Sub Divisional Hospital for treatment following the attack.

It is learnt that the victims were on the target of liquor mafia active in the village for carrying out protests against the illegal wine shops. They also had been sent to jail a few months back after being falsely implicated in a case then released on bail.

Police have started an investigation into the case.
