3 hurt as ambulance carrying corpse overturns in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In yet another road mishap in the State, at least three persons of a family sustained injuries after an ambulance carrying a corpse veered off NH-16 near Bhandaripokhari area in Bhadrak district in the wee hours today.

As per the report, one Parameshwar Mishra of Gobindapur village under Dhamnagar block had been admitted to SCB Medical in Cuttack due to a sickness a few days back. After his demise in a cardiac arrest last night Parameshwar’s family was carrying his body in an ambulance to his native village in the wee hours today when the overturn took place.

Near Bhandaripokhari the driver of the ambulance lost control over the wheels due to which the vehicle veered off the road and overturned into a nearby field.

The deceased’s wife, daughter and son who were boarding the ambulance sustained injuries in the crash. They have been admitted to Bhadrak DHH for treatment.

Police have seized the mangled vehicle by reaching the spot.
