3 forest officials hurt in elephant attack in Angul

Angul: In yet another incident of elephant incursion in the State, at least three forest officials have sustained injuries in jumbo attack under Kaniha forest range in Angul district today.

The victims have been identified as Padmalochan Swain, Sharat Biswal and Gagan Sahoo.

As per the report, the official trio had gone on patrolling duty in Kaniha area after reports of elephant herd incursion when the mishap took place. While trying to drive away the herd, comprising of 15-17 elephants from the village some of the pachyderms attacked them.

Later, the injured officials were rushed to Khamar Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment by other forest officials who reached out to help them.

Notably, people in the villages under Kaniha forest range are living under constant fear of jumbo attack for past few days due to the elephant herd incursion.
