3 critical in attack by rival political party members in Nayagarh
Nayagarh: In yet another incident of poll violence in the State, at least three persons sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a group of rival political party members in Kalikaprasad village under Sadar police limits here today.
The injured have been identified as Sushant, Ramesh and Kulamani of the same village.
As per the report, a verbal duel erupted between the victim trio and a group of workers of a particular political party over poll issues last night. As the argument escalated further they attacked the trio with an axe and fled from the spot.
Some locals rescued the injured in critical condition and admitted to a nearby hospital. Later, two of them were shifted to Bhubaneswar in a 108 ambulance due to critical injuries.
While police reached the spot and started and investigation into the incident it also launched efforts to trace the attackers who are absconding.
Meanwhile, the supporters of the injured have alleged the role of a local Assembly candidate in the incident as a video showing her cautioning rival political party members during poll campaign has gone viral recently.
