Tangi (Khordha): The Forest department officials seized three bird carcasses and a living bird during a raid near Chilika Lake at Tangi in Khordha district of Odisha. One person has been arrested in this connection for poaching the birds.
The poacher has been identified as Jagan Pradhan, a resident of Gopinathpur village in Khordha. At least three bird carcasses were seized from his possession.
Jagan had hunted two Night Herons, one Gadwall and captured one Osprey. The hunter has been arrested and forwarded to court in connection with the case.
It is noteworthy to mention that even though the government has imposed strict laws to check the poaching of birds; such incidents keep appearing from time to time.
