3 bikers feared swept away in rainwater in Bhubaneswar found safe

Bhubaneswar: At least three youths who had been swept away by rainwater in Acharya Vihar area in the capital city Bhubaneswar last night have been identified and are in safe condition.

The trio has been identified as B.Tech students of a city-based engineering college.

Earlier, a CCTV footage showing the trio struggling to wade through the waterlogged lanes of Acharya Vihar went viral on social media. The incident took place around 12.55 am last night while the victims were returning to their room after watching Ganesh Puja in the city.

The CCTV footage featured two pillion riders getting down from the bike bearing Registration Number-OD 22C 6780 and helping the rider to push it to a safer place.

After the surfacing of the video, locals in Acharya Vihar have blamed the administration for its delay in addressing the waterlogging issue despite the repeated appeal.
