Phulabani: Launching a crackdown on illegal drug trade in the district, the Excise Department officials today seized ganja weighing 27 kg from a car from Pabingia Square under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district and took one peddler into custody.
The arrested person has been identified as Chandan Digal, a resident of the same district.
As per the report, a team of Phulbani Excise Department sleuths got a tip-off on the ganja consignment this morning and conducted a vehicle search at Pabingia Square. During the search, they intercepted a car which the accused was boarding and found the cannabis kept in that.
Digal was en-route to Nayagarh district to deliver the ganja consignment when fell in Excise net, informed a source.
The peddler has been forwarded to court after arrest.
