236 CCTV cameras to be installed before Rath Yatra 2022

Puri: Preparation for the world famous Rath Yatra is going on in full swing. Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Vir Vikram Yadav, chaired the first Rath Yatra coordination meeting today to review the progress of work.

The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) of Central Division will hold the second meeting of the Rath Yatra coordination committee on May 20 with the aim to review the further progress of the Rath Yatra work.

While speaking to the media persons after the first meeting of the Rath Yatra coordination committee, District Collector Samarth Verma assured that the chariot construction work will conclude ahead of schedule as the Maharana and Bhoi servitors are working in two shifts to meet the targeted deadline.

He also informed that the district administration will install as many as 236 CCTV cameras before Rath Yatra 2022. These CCTV cameras will be installed at Jagannath Temple and Gundicha Temple for safety purposes as huge numbers of devotees are expected to attend this year’s annual Rath Yatra, which was held sans devotees during 2020 and 2021 due to COVID pandemic.

On the other hand, ASI Superintendent Arun Mallick visited Puri first time after an affidavit over the ongoing Shreemandir Heritage Corridor project was filed at the Orissa High Court.

Apart from seeking the blessings of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, the ASI Superintendent inspected the Heritage Corridor project. He also virtually took part in a meeting of the officials of the concerned departments. He also inspected how and where the CCTV cameras will be installed before the annual car festival.
