22 students of Odisha’s VIMSAR test positive for Covid-19

Sambalpur: As many as 22 students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in Sambalpur district have tested positive of Covid-19.

Reportedly, all the Covid-19 positive are students of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) first year of VIMSAR, Burla.

The students were found developing symptoms of Covid-19 post the annual function at VIMSAR following which they have been kept under isolation in the Covid ward of the hospital and their health condition is being constantly monitored.

The RT-PCR test of the students will be conducted today. The contact tracing of all the 22 MBBS students is underway. The college authorities have initiated the sanitization procedure in order to curb the coronavirus infection.

The exam VIMSAR’s MBBS students was earlier slated to be conducted offline which is now under reconsideration.

Update:

As many as 29 students including 22 girls and seven boys have been tested positive. As the contact tracing of the Covid positives are underway, the offline exam of 1st year and 2nd year MBBS students have been cancelled. All the exams and practicals will be conducted in online mode, informed Prof. Jayashree Dora.
