22 school students taken ill after consuming anti-Filariasis medicine in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: In what could be dubbed as a setback to the Filaria elimination drive in schools, at least 22 students of Barua High School were taken ill after allegedly consuming Firlaria preventive medicines yesterday.

As per the report, the school authorities handed over the medicine to the children soon after they had the Mid Day Meal served there. After consuming the medicine the students developed symptoms like nausea and vomiting pointing at either food poisoning or side effect of drug.

The sick students were immediately rushed to Anlabareni Community Health Centre (CHC) where their condition is stated to be stable now.

The district health department officials have taken the matter with a serious note and put it on a close watch.
