22 kg ganja seized in Odisha’s Kandhamal, two arrested

Phulbani: Daringbadi Police seized 22 kg of ganja near Sulumah ghat in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.

The accused have been identified as Gegu Mallick and Govind Mallick. The duo hails from Barikia village under Daringbadi police limits in the district.

According to sources, the police noticed car bearing Regd No : OR 02 AH 5567 was moving from Baliguda to Berhampur side at a high speed.

The police team intercepted the speeding car near the ghat and recovered a bag of contraband ganja weighing 22 kg from the vehicle.

Police seized the vehicle and arrested Gegu and Govind, who were travelling in the vehicle. However, the driver managed to flee from the spot.

A case has been lodged under NDPS  Act in this connection and the arrested duo will be produced in the court today, said Baliguda IIC Koushik Majhi.
