Imphal: In a shocking incident at least 20 Judo players from Odisha sustained injuries after a bus carrying them met with an accident near Manipur capital Imphal late last night.
As per the report, the bus was en-route to Dimapur from Imphal with 30 players and the coach on board when the mishap took place at around 12 O’clock in the night. Due to the crash which took place around 20 kms away from Dimapur, as many as twenty players sustained injuries and two of them turned critical.
Some locals from the area where the accident took place swung into action and rescued the players to rush to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, informing on the mishap Gitanjali Panda, CEO of Odisha Judo Association has said that the players have boarded a train and would reach Odisha tomorrow.
Notably, the Odia Judo players comprising a few from Judo Hall, Bhubaneswar had been to participate in the under 15 and 17 National Judo competition of boys and girls which was held in Imphal from October 14 to 19.
