Balasore: Two youth have been thrashed by villagers on suspicion of being child lifters at Rasalpur village under Kamarda Police limits in Balasore district of Odisha on Thursday night.
According to reports, four youth came in a car to the village and entered forcefully into a villager’s house at around 3 am. The house belongs to Abhimanyu Behera.
The locals rushed to their home after they heard the family screaming following which they tried to nab them but two of the youth escaped from the spot. The other two were overpowered by the villagers.
Later, the locals suspected them to be child lifters as they could not defend themselves with any satisfactory explanation. They tied the hands and legs of the alleged child lifters and thrashed them.
The locals also vandalized their car and overturned it near a canal in a fit of rage. Thereafter, the two were handed over to the local police today in the morning.
Police has detained the two youth for questioning and launched an investigation into the matter.
