Berhampur: Launching a crackdown on history sheeters in the district Berhampur police last night arrested two wanted criminals in Kanamana village under Chamakhandi police limits after an encounter, in which they also sustained bullet injuries.
The arrested duo has been identified as Manoj Sahoo of Polsara in Ganjam district and Biswjit Barik of Kaipadar in Khordha.
As per the report, a team of Chamakhandi Police conducted the raid after getting a tip-off on the presence of the criminal duo near Goapalpur late last night. During the raid the duo tried to escape from the spot by opening fire at the cops and sustained bullet injury on their legs in retaliation.
Police seized 2 pistols, 4 live bullets and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from the possession of the arrested criminals during the encounter and arrested them.
While the injured duo has been admitted to MKCG Hospital here, police have informed that they were involved in a number of loot cases under different police limits in the district including the Chamakhandi petrol pump dacoity which took place a few days back.
