Balasore: A two storey building reportedly collapsed in the Motiganj area of Balasore of Odisha on Thursday. The edifice collapsed when the excavation work of the drain was going on.
As per reports, the building collapsed when excavation work was underway for a drain in between the Municipal office and Town Police Station with the help of JCB in the town. This was an old building. The front portion of the building has collapsed.
Reportedly, there is a medicine store; a ration store and a printing press at the place where the drain work was going on. However, these shops are intact and have not been affected while the nearby two storey building collapsed.
No casualties were reported in the incident. Following the incident, the district collector visited the spot and inspected the situation. He has said that he would talk to the concerned officers in the matter.
