Udaygiri: Tension ran high in Chheligad village under R Udaygiri police limits in Gajapati district on Saturday after dead bodies of at least two women, who were sisters, were found under mysterious conditions from a well.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran Achari (22) and Swapna Achari (18).
As per the report, the deceased duo went missing from their house last night and was found floating inside a well near their house later around 2 AM.
Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot this morning and fished out the bodies from the well for autopsy after getting an information from the deceased duo’s father, Pramod Achari.
While the cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, father of the deceased suspected it to be a case of suicide over failed marriage proposal. He said Kiran was under mental stress after one of his marriage proposals failed a couple of days ago and might have motivated the younger sister to take the extreme step together.
At the same time Pramod also claimed that the hand of some of their relatives in abetting the suicide of the sisters could not be ruled out.
Police have also suspected it to be a case of suicide and are awaiting the autopsy report to decide its next course of action.
