2 Russian nationals detained for flying drone over Sun Temple

Konark: Proving flying drones over 13th Century Sun Temple costly for two Russian tourists, ASI officials detained them today.

The incident came to fore after some locals spotted the tourist duo busy is shooting visuals of the UNESCO heritage site through a camera mountain drone during their visit to the place in the morning and took the matter to the notice of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials.

As flying drones over the site is strictly prohibited the ASI officials detained the violators immediately for questioning.

Notably, in a similar incident, the Puri Simhadwar police had detained at least nine perosons for flying drones over Sri Jagannath Temple in October, this year. However, during investigation later it came to notice that the violators were part of a Kolkata-based company which was entrusted with shooting a promotional on heritage sites by Odisha’s Tourism Department.
