Akash and Subhrajit were also asked to deposit Rs 5000 each within seven days as fine.

The action was taken in compliance with the policy of zero tolerance on ragging in the University, a senior official of the institution said.

In July this year, a Plus Two second year student, Biswajit Mohanty, was ragged and beaten up by a group of students led by Subhrajit and Akash near Lalitgiri Hostel in the campus premises.

An FIR was also registered at the Malgodam Police station here in that connection.
