2 new Judges of Orissa High Court to take oath today

Cuttack: The two new judges of Orissa High Court, Justice Subhasis Talapatra and Advocate Sanjay Kumar Mishra will administer the oath of office by Chief Justice S Muralidhar on Friday.

Reportedly,  a formal notification had been issued on June 3 by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice and the announcement was made after receiving approval from the President.

Earlier, the Supreme Court (SC) Collegium had proposed Advocate Sanjay Kumar Mishra’s name.

Sanjay Kumar Mishra, the advocate who is set to appear as an Odisha High Court judge, was born in Burla. However, he is a native of Muktadeipur village in Dhenkanal district.

He was born to Engineer Bibhuti Bhusan and Banalata Mishra in Burla but he is a native of Muktadeipur village in Dhenkanal district.

Advocate Sanjay Kumar Mishra passed his matriculation from Thermal High School in Talcher in 1983 and he did his B.Com from Angul College in 1987. Then he completed his LLB from M.S. Colleges in 1990 after which he began his career as a lawyer and played a vital role in several important cases dealt with in the Orissa High Court.

Likewise, Justice Subhasis Talapatra of the Tripura High Court had been transferred to the Orissa High Court by the recommendation of Supreme Court (SC) Collegium on May 27.

Notably, with the appointment of the two Judges, the number of Judges of the High Court rose to 23.
