2 more Omicron Covid positives detected in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Two more people have been detected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Odisha, informed the Director of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

Reportedly, the Director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar informed the State Health Department.

The two persons who were infected with the Omicron variant are said to be 11-year-old and 15-year-old children.

With these positive cases, the Omicron Covid positive cases in the State rise to four.

Earlier on December 21, two youths tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid. Among them, one person returned from Nigeria and another returned from Qatar. Both the earlier Omicron positives are residents of Jagatsinghpur and Khordha.

Meanwhile, Odisha Health Director said that surveillance and vaccination drive will be intensified and they have been directed to upscale daily Covid tests to 70,000.

It is to be noted that India has recorded 236 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus across 16 states and UTs so far out of which 104 people have recovered or migrated, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated today.
