2 Minor Tribal Girls Allegedly Tortured By Employer In Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Two minor tribal girls, who were allegedly tortured by their employer were rescued by a Self-Help Group (SHG) in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.

According to reports, the minor girls were employed as a domestic help at the house of a person of Gumura area under Keonjhar Town police limits.

However, the employer allegedly tortured them and subjected them to regular mental harassment.

They were not given food properly and the employer even threatened to kill them if they protested.

The girls continued living there as they were not able to contact their family members. However, they finally managed to escape on Friday and reached a nearby market. Some members of the SHG saw them crying and took them to the police station.

After the girls narrated their ordeal before the police, Child Line members reached the police station and lodged a written complaint against the employer.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
