2 killed, over 30 injured as bus, truck collide in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak : At least  two persons were killed and more than 30 injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus, carrying Urs pilgrims, near Banta Chhak on National Highway 16 in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as SK Nizamuddin of Mirzapur area in Bhadrak district and Eduras Basa Syed of Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The injured persons were rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment. Six pilgrims who sustained critical injuries in the mishap have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack while another person has been taken to Balasore DHH.

According to reports, the bus, carrying the pilgrims of Urs festival was heading towards Bhadrak railway station from Dhamnagar at around 4 AM when it collided head-on with a truck on the NH near Banta Chhak.

On being informed, police reached the spot and began investigation into the matter.

Bhadrak District Collector, Sub Collector and SP also reached the spot and later visited the DHH to inspect the health condition of the pilgrims.
