Baripada: No one knows, in fact, the hour of his or her death, as it can come to anyone at anytime and anywhere. This is what happened to two residents of Nuagaon village under Baripada Tehsil of Mayurbhanj district today. The duo was killed after lightning struck them while they were cremating their fellow villager’s body.
According to reports, a native of Nuagaon village died this morning. The villagers had taken his body to the shamshan ghat (cremation ground) to perform the last rites and cremate his mortal remains. However, the two villagers also died on the spot after lighting struck them in the cremation ground.
The deceased persons have been identified as Josen Majhi and Kuanra Soren.
On being informed, the local police arrived on the spot and took the bodies of Majhi and Soren to Betnoti Community Health Centre (CHC) for postmortem. On the other hand, the locals demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased persons.
A pall of gloom descended on Nuagaon village following the unfortunate death of Majhi and Soren.
