Cuttack: Two people were killed when an iron rod laden truck on late Friday night lost control and tumbled down the overbridge on Manguli square on NH 17 under Tangi Police limits in Choudwar in Cuttack district.
As per reports, the truck driver and his associate were killed on the spot and have not been able to be identified yet.
Upon intimation, Tangi police and Choudwar fire service officials rushed to the spot. Using gas cutters it took the three hours to cut through the truck’s cabin and retrieve the dead bodies.
The bodies have been moved to Cuttack Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.
The truck was plying on the wrong side of the road and may have been the cause behind the accident, Tangi police informed. They have begun an investigation regarding the source and authenticity of the iron rods.
