Phulbani: At least two persons were killed and equal number sustained injuries after a speeding bike hit some pedestrians and then dashed against a roadside tree in Jhinjiriguda area under Baliguda police limits in Kandhamal district today.
The deceased has been identified as Tarjan Baliarsingh and Kailas Pujari. Identification of the injured could not have been made so far.
The mishap took place early in the morning while the deceased duo was on their way back to home riding a bike and the rider suddenly lost control over the wheels. Later, the bike hit a couple of passers-by and smacked into a nearby tree right in front of Bhalipadar Sebashram.
While Tarjan and Kailash died on the spot, the injured persons were rushed to Baliguda Hospital by some locals immediately.
Police have seized the mangled bike and sent the bodies for autopsy.
