2 killed, 15 hurt in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Bhanjanagar/Komana: At least 2 persons were killed and 15 others sustained critical injuries in two separate road mishaps in Ganjam and Nuapada districts of Odisha since last night.

In the first instance, a marriage party bus namely ‘Samrat’ bearing registration number OD 14 H 5238 overturned at Kalinga ghati near Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district. The bus run by Ambika Tours and Travels and carrying over 40 passengers was heading to Rourkela to Aska when the driver lost control over the wheels causing it to overturn near Andhrikot.

Fire officials from Bhanjanagar and rushed to the spot immediately and rescued the injured from the mangled bus to send them to Bhanjanagar Hospital.

The second incident which took place in the same night, at least two persons were killed near Jalamkata village under Komna block of Nuapada district after an unknown vehicle hit their bike.

The deceased identified as Return Hans and Vivekanand Bag of Buddhikomana village were returning from Udyanbandh village when the unknown vehicle, possibly a truck, mowed them down and drove away. The duo died on the spot.

Police have reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy to Komna CHC.
