2 killed, 12 injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Sambalpur/Balasore: Two persons were killed and at least 12 others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps which took place in Sambalpur and Balasore districts in the state on Sunday.

In the first instance, a car carrying an unspecified number of persons from Sambalpur to Jharsuguda was struck head on by a passenger bus moving in the opposite direction near Betaghar village under Redhakhol police limits in Sambalpur district this morning. The mishap which occurred after the driver of the bus lost control over the wheels, left both the vehicles mangled with one person killed and eight others hurt at the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Pandey, a resident of Bolangir district.

The injured have been rushed to VIMSAR in Burla due to deteriorating conditions.

Similarly, one person was killed and four others boarding a car were hurt after it overturned on NH-16 near Soro in Balasore district later in the morning.

The deceased has been identified as Pradip Mandal.

The incident took place in front of the Simulia Police Station after the driver of the car lost control over the wheels due to some reason.

While all four injured have been admitted to Bhadrak DHH, a 3-year-old girl had a miraculous save in the accident and was found unhurt.
