Nayagarh: Launching a crackdown on the flourishing narcotic trade in the district, Nayagarh Police today seized ganja weighing 2 kg from a bike dicky in Rajkiari area under Khandapada police limits and arrested one person.
The held peddler has been identified as Prahallad Ghadei of Baliguda area of Kandhamal district.
Following a tip-off on the ganja consignment, a team of Khandapada Police led by IIC Bimal Kumar Mallick rushed to Rajakiari Chhak on National Highway-5 in the morning and intercepted a bike bearing Registration Number-OD 12 A 9835 and driven by Prahallad. During a search of his vehicle the police team came across two packets carrying the banned drug and seized those. Later the accused was taken into custody.
The seized ganja consignment was being sent to Khandapada area from Baliguda, said police.
Further investigation is underway in the case.
