2 injured in firing over suspected past rivalry in Kendrapara

 Kendrapara: At least two youths sustained critical bullet injuries after being shot at by a group of bike-borne miscreants on the Luna river bridge near Kalapada in Kendrapara district last night.

The victims have been identified as Rajesh Muduli of Bachharai village under Patkura police limits and Binod Sahu (Bholi) of Angulai Barei village under Sadar police limits of Kendrapara district.

As per the report, Rajesh and Binod along with a friend were returning from Marshaghai to their homes riding TVS Apache bike at around 11 pm last night when the attack took place. A group of at least three men followed them on another bike and intercepted on the river bridge. Later the attackers fired at least three bullets at them out of which Rajesh and Binod were struck with one each.

After the attackers fled from the spot, some locals rushed the victim duo to Kendrapara DHH and then shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack in critical condition.

The special squad of Kendrapara Police and Sadar Police have seized three empty cartridges from the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

A past enmity is being suspected behind the firing.
