Soro: Tightening the noose around the necks of highway looters gang, Soro Police arrested at least two burglars from Chaparpada area here last night and seized a car they were travelling in.
The held accused have been identified as Niranjan Das of Inchudi village under Khantapada police limits and Naveen Das of Mulisingh village under Soro Police Station area.
As per the report, a patrolling team of Soro Police got a tip-off on the presence of the looter duo on NH-16 late last night and chase them. While heading to Balasore from Bhadrak and in a bid to escape, the car in which the accused were traveling hit the Chparpada Bridge subsequently. Police seized the Tata Indigo car from the possession of the accused and arrested them immediately.
Police also seized, iron rods and other weapons used in the loot during the raid.
The looter duo was involved in a number of highway loot cases, under different police station areas in the district and was on the run, informed police.
