Rayagada: A ‘selfie’ mania has ended up in a tragedy for two girls in the district on Thursday after they fell off a hanging bridge and drowned in Nagavali River while taking selfie on phone on Thursday.
The deceased girls have been identified as E Jyoti of Visakhapatnam and S Sridevi of Vizianagaram from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
The incident took place today afternoon after the duo climbed atop the hanging bridge to click a selfie. While trying to pose they slipped off the bridge and fell into the Nagavali River and got swept away, informed an onlooker.
Local police reached the spot and fished out the dead bodies of the duo from river water after hours and rushed for their autopsy.
